TDT/TDT Technical Inspection for Concrete Pumps – Poland

Mandatory TDT (TDT) technical inspections for concrete pumps in Poland. What the inspector checks, how to prepare, inspection intervals and legal requirements.

The obligation for technical inspection of concrete pumps derives from:

  • Polish Technical Supervision Act (Journal of Laws 2023, pos. 1622) – art. 4, 5, 14
  • EN 12001:2012 – safety requirements for equipment for the conveyance of concrete

Machines covered: all boom pumps, trailer pumps over 40 m3/h, truck mixer pumps used commercially.

What the TDT inspector checks

  1. Documentation review – service records for the past 2 years, machine passport, operator manual in Polish
  2. Visual inspection – coating condition, all boom welds, stabilizer attachments, hydraulic hoses
  3. NDT testing – magnetic particle testing (MT) or visual testing (VT) of critical weld areas
  4. Hydraulic pressure test – 1.25 × MOP for 10 minutes
  5. Safety device testing – load limiter, tilt sensor, stabilizer locks, emergency STOP

Most common reasons for failing TDT

  1. Boom weld cracks (not visible without MT) – 40% of cases
  2. Defective safety devices – 25%
  3. Missing or incomplete service documentation – 20%
  4. Hydraulic system leaks – 10%
  5. Excessive wear in boom pins and bearings – 5%

Preparation timeline

  • 6 weeks before: Book pre-inspection service with PHS Magnum
  • 3-4 weeks before: Repair identified issues, compile documentation
  • 2 weeks before: Confirm TDT inspector appointment
  • Day of inspection: Clean machine, full hydraulic oil, trained operator available
