TDT Inspection for Concrete Pumps – Poland
Mandatory TDT inspections for concrete pumps in Poland. What the inspector checks, how to prepare, intervals and legal requirements.

TDT concrete pump inspection – legal requirements and practical guide
Legal basis
The obligation for technical inspection of concrete pumps derives from:
- Polish Technical Supervision Act (Journal of Laws 2023, pos. 1622) – art. 4, 5, 14
- EN 12001:2012 – safety requirements for equipment for the conveyance of concrete
Machines covered: all boom pumps, trailer pumps over 40 m3/h, truck mixer pumps used commercially.
What the TDT inspector checks
- Documentation review – service records for the past 2 years, machine passport, operator manual in Polish
- Visual inspection – coating condition, all boom welds, stabilizer attachments, hydraulic hoses
- NDT testing – magnetic particle testing (MT) or visual testing (VT) of critical weld areas
- Hydraulic pressure test – 1.25 × MOP for 10 minutes
- Safety device testing – load limiter, tilt sensor, stabilizer locks, emergency STOP
Most common reasons for failing TDT
- Boom weld cracks (not visible without MT) – 40% of cases
- Defective safety devices – 25%
- Missing or incomplete service documentation – 20%
- Hydraulic system leaks – 10%
- Excessive wear in boom pins and bearings – 5%

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Concrete pumps with boom length over 22 m and all trailer/line pumps over 40 m3/h are subject to mandatory technical supervision under the Polish Technical Supervision Act (Journal of Laws 2023, pos. 1622). Machines without a valid certificate cannot be legally operated.
Standard interval: every 2 years (periodic inspection). After boom repairs or modifications, a random inspection is required before resuming operation. New machines undergo an acceptance inspection before first use.
Documentation review, hydraulic pressure test (1.25 × MOP for 10 minutes), NDT weld inspection of the boom structure (MT or VT methods), safety device functional test (load limiters, tilt sensors, stabilizer locks), electrical installation check per EN 60204.
Fine up to PLN 30,000, site shutdown by the Labour Inspectorate, insurance claim rejection in case of accident, and personal criminal liability for the site manager and operator.
Book a pre-inspection service with PHS Magnum 4-6 weeks before your certificate expires. We check the machine, identify issues, compile documentation, and coordinate the TDT inspector visit. This ensures first-time pass.
