Concrete mixer and truck-mixer pump service – PHS Magnum, Chorula near Opole

We provide a full mechanical service for concrete transit mixers: drum drive hydraulics, gearbox and bearing repair, drum shell and auger welding, and frame and bodywork repairs. We work on Stetter, Liebherr, Cifa and Putzmeister — in our workshop in Chorula near Opole and on-site across the Opolskie region and neighbouring provinces.

A concrete mixer operates in conditions just as demanding as a concrete pump: abrasive mix inside the drum at all times, continuous hydraulic drive load, and frame vibration and overloads on every run. The most common failure points are the hydrostatic drum drive circuit, the main gearbox and bearing, and wear through the drum shell and augers. Left unattended, these failures end with the mixer immobilised — concrete inside the drum — and every hour then counts.

Drum Drive Hydraulics Repair

The drum drive is a closed hydrostatic circuit: a hydraulic pump driven by the chassis engine (or an auxiliary engine) and a hydraulic motor on the gearbox. Typical faults and our scope of work:

  • Drum slowing or stalling under load — worn hydraulic pump or motor; we carry out pressure diagnostics, refurbishment or component replacement
  • Circuit overheating — contaminated oil or a faulty cooler; flushing, oil and filter change, cooler repair
  • Leaks — pump, motor and high-pressure hose seal replacement
  • Control faults — cable linkage, electrical and proportional control repair

The hydrostatic circuit is sensitive to oil cleanliness — just as with concrete pumps, contamination can destroy the main pump within a few hours of operation. Regular oil and filter changes are the least expensive insurance for the drum body.

Drum Gearboxes and Bearings

The planetary gearbox with its slewing bearing carries the full weight of the loaded drum — potentially several tonnes — and turns with every rotation. Signs of wear include metallic knocking when the direction of rotation changes, perceptible drum play when rocked, gearbox oil leakage, and metal particles on the magnetic drain plug.

We carry out:

  • Diagnostics and replacement of ZF, PMP, Bonfiglioli and other gearboxes
  • Main bearing and seal replacement
  • Flexible coupling repair between the hydraulic motor and gearbox
  • Refurbishment of support rollers and the drum running ring

Where wear is at a critical limit we advise on refurbishment versus full exchange — always with a written quote before work begins.

Drum Shell and Auger Welding

The drum shell and augers (mixing spirals) wear with every load of concrete. A thinning shell first shows as increased residual concrete in the drum; if ignored, it wears through completely. Our sheet-metal and welding repair scope:

  • Patching and replacing drum shell sections — including rebalancing
  • Hard-facing and replacing augers — restoring mixing geometry and efficient discharge
  • Rebuilding the loading hopper, discharge chute and troughs — the most heavily abraded components
  • Frame and platform repairs — fatigue cracks, mounting points

All welding is performed by EN 1090-certified welders — the same qualifications required for concrete pump boom repairs.

Concrete Mixer Service for All Brands: Stetter, Liebherr, Cifa, Putzmeister

We service drum bodies regardless of chassis (DAF, Mercedes, MAN, Scania, Volvo, Iveco):

  • Stetter (Schwing) — the most common drum bodies in Poland; full parts and documentation availability
  • Liebherr — HTM drum bodies; hydraulics and gearbox repairs in line with manufacturer documentation
  • Cifa — SL/RH drum bodies and Magnum truck-mixer pumps; parts sourced from Italy in 3–7 days
  • Putzmeister — drum bodies and truck-mixer pumps (Pumi); electronic diagnostics, tester available

We also service truck-mixer pumps — transit mixers with an integrated pumping unit and boom. These machines combine both our specialisms: we treat the mixer and drum body as a concrete mixer, and the pumping unit, boom and hydraulics as a pump. Truck-mixer pumps are subject to regulatory technical inspection; we also prepare them for periodic examinations — details: TDT inspection for concrete pumps. Fleet operators are also welcome to enquire about periodic concrete pump servicing — one service provider for your entire concrete equipment fleet.

Warning Signs Not to Ignore

A concrete mixer rarely fails without warning. Call the service team at these signs — before the machine stops with concrete in the drum:

  • Drum slowing under full load — first sign of pump or hydraulic motor wear; at this stage refurbishment is usually sufficient
  • Metallic knocking on direction change — play in the gearbox or coupling; left unattended this destroys the main bearing
  • Gearbox oil with particles on the magnetic plug — the gearbox is consuming itself; bearing replacement costs less than a new gearbox
  • Increasing residual concrete in the drum — worn augers are not mixing or discharging fully; hard-facing restores the geometry
  • Hydraulic overheating on warm days — contaminated oil or a blocked cooler; circuit flushing is preventive maintenance, not emergency repair

Early-stage diagnosis typically means hours of downtime, not days — and you receive a quote before deciding whether to proceed with the repair.

Coverage — Opolskie and Neighbouring Regions

Our service base is in Chorula, Opolskie province — 4 km from the A4 Gogolin interchange, approximately 20 km from Opole. Mobile service covers the whole of Opolskie (Opole, Krapkowice, Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Strzelce Opolskie, Brzeg, Nysa) as well as the Silesian and Lower Silesian regions. For critical breakdowns in the Opolskie area, typical response is 2–3 hours from the call. Further details of regional coverage: concrete pump service near Opole.

Workshop hours: Monday–Friday 06:00–20:00, Saturday 07:00–15:00. Drive-in access and a manoeuvring yard for heavy vehicles — a fully loaded transit mixer has no difficulty entering.

Frequently Asked Questions

All mainstream drum bodies: Stetter (Schwing), Liebherr, Cifa, Putzmeister and other European makes. We repair drum drive hydraulics, gearboxes, bearings, frames and augers regardless of the chassis the body is fitted to.

Yes. We carry out diagnostics, repair and replacement of drum drive gearboxes (ZF, PMP, Bonfiglioli and others), including bearing, seal and coupling replacement. Where wear is critical we advise whether refurbishment or a complete gearbox exchange makes better economic sense — a written quote is always provided before any work begins.

Yes. We carry out sheet-metal and welding repairs to drums: patching worn shell sections, replacing and hard-facing augers (mixing spirals), and rebuilding the loading hopper and discharge chute. All welding is performed by EN 1090-certified welders, documented with an inspection record.

The mixing body on its own — without a pumping unit — is not subject to TDT (Technical Inspection Authority) supervision. Truck-mixer pumps (transit mixers with an integrated pump and boom) are subject to TDT inspection. If you have a truck-mixer pump, we will prepare it comprehensively for the periodic TDT examination.
